In New Jersey, it looks like its full speed ahead for all forms of online gambling. With the legalization of online sports betting in recent months, the number of properties now supporting its sports betting operations with an online website and mobile application is quickly expanding.
On Feb 19, the Golden Nugget Casino announced the launching of its online sports betting platform in New Jersey. That brings the number of online sports betting operations in the state to a lucky 13.
The Golden Nuggets's online sports betting platform is being provided by industry-leading software develop SBTech. The platform comes with access through traditional web browsers and a mobile app that features all of the same betting markets and operational modules. Mobile access will be available to customers who are using mobile devices that are compatible with the iOS (Apple) and Android operating systems.
Sports bettors will enjoy access to many of the world's most popular betting markets, including MLB, the NFL and major NCAA sports. One sport that will be conspicuous by its absence will be the NBA. With Tilman Fertitta maintaining ownership interests in both the Golden Nugget and the NBA's Houston Rockets, there's a potential conflict of interest. According to New Jersey’s sports betting regulations, the Golden Nugget will be excluded from taking bets on NBA games.
With the addition of every new entrant into New Jersey's online sports betting market, there's a significant uptick in the amount of online gambling revenues being reported by the state as a whole. According to the the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), the state reported a total of $385m was wagered online on sports in January. That number represents a month over month increase of 80% for sports bets that were placed either online or via mobile devices.
During the same month sans an online sports betting site, the Golden Nugget reported sports book generated revenues of just $27,287. With an online sports book and mobile access added, that number is expected to increase significantly in the coming months.
