At the heart of every experienced sports bettor is a person who likes to compete. They like to compete with bookmakers for the bookmaker’s cash. They also like competing with other sports bettors to see who might be the best sports handicapper in the land. With the start of the NFL and college football season, top online bookmakers have been introducing some pretty exciting bonus offers. None of them is as lucrative as the “$500,000 Same Game Parlay Contest” at BetRivers. For the benefit of Illinois sports bettors registered with BetRivers, here is how the contest works.
This is a leaderboard competition. The contest started on September 8, 2022, and will continue until the end of the NFL’s regular season, which ends on January 9, 2022. This is the promo period, and it does not require participants to opt in. All participants need to do is place qualifying bets, which are defined as Same Game Parlays of at least 3 legs with minimum odds of -200. To climb the leaderboard, players will have to place winning SGP bets. The bets can include games from any available betting market. Points are awarded at the rate of 10x the number of legs on a winning bet with the max number of points to be awarded for a winning bet set at 1,000 points.
There will be weekly prizes and an overall prize awarded at the conclusion of the entire contest. Weekly leaderboard winners will be paid down to 200 places with the sole winner getting $1,000 in bonus bets and participants ranked 101-200 get $25 in bonus bets.
As for the overall prize fund, the grand prize winner will $25,000 in bonus bets. The low-end will be participants ranked between 901-1000 getting $50 in bonus bets. Bonus bets exceeding $500 will be issued in $250 increments. After receiving their bonus bets, recipients will have seven (7) to fulfill a 1x wagering requirement. After doing this, recipients will be free to withdraw any of their net winnings.
Any winnings that exceed the IRS’ $600 threshold must be claimed on the recipient’s 2022 tax return. 1099Gs will be issued by BetRivers.
