As one of a dozen states to have already passed legislation to permit online and mobile gambling access for its resident, West Virginia is ready to begin accepting online sports bets through The Greenbrier mountain luxury resort and casino.
The casino, in conjunction with Roar Digital LLC and operator MGM Resorts International, has announced that the MGM mobile app is now available to start accepting wagers.
According to Scott Butera, who serves as President of Interactive Gaming for MGM Resorts: “We are pleased to be operating in West Virginia and partnering with The Greenbrier, a historic grand hotel and one of the most storied landmarks in the United States. Sports betting represents a significant opportunity for the MGM Resorts-GVC joint venture; we look forward to bringing our best-in-class mobile technology to additional states where mobile gaming is approved.”
Effectively immediately, sports bettors located in West Virginia will be able to make their sports wagers through the new BetMGM app. They will be able to access the mobile betting site with any mobile devices (tablets, smartphones) that are compatible with the iOS (Apple) or Android operating systems. The app is available for download for free through Google Play and The Apple Store.
It's noteworthy bettors can also place online sports bets through a sports betting website that's available for laptop and desktop computers.
The move to mobile gambling has been in the works since West Virginia state legislators passed a bill that legalized both sports betting and mobile gambling for state residents. Based on revenue numbers being reported by states that have already been accepting sports wagers online, the state can look forward to a huge boost in future taxes coming into the state's coffers.
As one of the top land based gambling operations in the Mountaineer state, it makes sense that The Greenbriar would be the first participant to introduce access to online and mobile gambling.
According to Dr. Jill Justice, President of The Greenbrier: “We are thrilled that BetMGM is coming to West Virginia and couldn’t be prouder that this tremendous brand is launching at The Greenbrier. West Virginia sports fans are going to love this app as much as they love visiting us here at America’s Resort."
In the future, West Virginia sports bettors can expect to see more betting facilities coming to market with online betting websites and mobile apps. Clearly, this is the chosen path for sports bettors and operators in America.
