Mississippi Legislators Looking to Expand Mobile Sports Betting Access

January 6, 2022

According to current Mississippi mobile gambling legislation, mobile sports betting is restricted to certain areas. There are concerns that the current laws are unfair to far too many residents.

In an effort to make the stater’s sports betting legislation more equitable for all residents, Rep. Cedric Burnett has filed HB 184. According to the bill, licensed mobile sports betting operators would be allowed to accept sports bets from bettors located anywhere within the state’s legal boundaries.

With neighboring states like Tennessee, Louisiana, and possibly the aforementioned Arkansas taking sports betting tax revenue away from the Mississippi coffers, legislators are starting to realize the current mobile sports betting rules need to be adjusted. It would seem there is plenty of motivation to address this issue sooner rather than later.
