The Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has quietly grabbed a strong foothold in the international iGaming market. They have done this by developing an award-winning online gambling platform that has been well-embraced by the online gambling community in Europe. The company is registered in Malta and operates under the rules and regulations set forth by the Malta Gaming Authority.
In Europe, the company's sports betting platform is used prominently by the likes of top online sports betting operators bet365, Unibet, and LeoVegas Casino. After having so much success in Europe, the company is now making an aggressive play to establish a foothold in the U.S.
According to the GiG website, the company has a significant presence in over 30 global online gambling markets. They also claim to have the support of over 60 sports betting operators that are currently using the GiG online/mobile sports betting platform.
In order to compete in a U.S. sports betting market that is largely controlled by U.S. online gambling operators like DraftKings, BetMGM, Fanduel, and Caesars Sportsbook and Casino, GiG's management group decided the best approach was to come to market with a new sports betting brand. The new brand is called "Crab Sports." The new sports betting operation will be using the GiG sports betting platform in support of its operation.
The company Crab Sports LLC is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. Management has a stated goal of becoming a viable sports betting solution as they attempt to create momentum by establishing a major presence in Maryland.
After securing an online sports betting license from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, Crab Sports became the 11th sports betting operator in the state. As part of that process, the company has a stated goal of taking a very unique approach to garner its fair share of Maryland customers.
Management at Crb Sports has a full understanding of how difficult it will be to compete with big online/mobile sports betting operators like Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM. In deference to that most difficult task, the company has decided it wants to compete at a more local level.
It starts with trying to avoid major marketing campaigns that seem to work better on a national level. As an alternative, Club Sports wanted to reach out to local businesses with cross-promotions. An example of this can be seen in a deal the operator made with a popular Baltimore restaurant called "Jimmy's Seafood" (how appropriate). Through the cross-promo, restaurant customers can earn discounts by using the Crab Sports betting site. Likewise, Crab Sports is offering unique bonus promos for regular Jimmy's Seafood customers.
Will this approach work? Only time will tell. However, it's a great opportunity for smaller online sports betting operators to try to capture a part of a particular state's sports betting pie. Remember, smaller operations only need a small piece of the pie to be deemed successful and profitable.
