There aren't many people who know that Puerto Rico is becoming a sports betting haven for U.S. sports bettors who like to travel. As an exotic vacation destination, Puerto Rico offers access to lots of beaches and historic sites. The country also offers access to several really nice retail Resort Casinos. As a U.S. Territory, it makes perfect sense that those casinos would be interested in offering sports betting options to visitors.
In recent months, two casino properties jumped into the sports betting community. First, it was the Casino Del Mar at La Concha Resort partnering with BetMGM. They were followed by The Stadium, which launched proprietary sports betting services under the "WinIn Sportsbook" brand. As of July 6, 2023, the name Caesars Sportsbook can be added to the roster of mobile and retail sports betting options in Puerto Rica.
Caesars Sportsbook has formally announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Casino Metro in San Juan. The Caesars sports betting platform is available to residents and visitors via PCs/laptops and mobile devices that are compatible with the iOS (Apple) and Android operating systems.
Before persons in Puerto Rico can use the Caesars sports betting platform, they will need to sign up in person at Casino Metro. Once they have registered for access to the mobile app, they will be allowed to place wagers from anywhere within the country as long as they can get data access. All new customers must be at least 21 and present an ID as part of the registration process.
Registered customers will get access to approximately 30 betting markets each and every day. They will be able to wager on popular U.S. sports leagues like the NFL, NHL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, and MLS (soccer), as well as the PGA and NASCAR. Available international markets will include professional soccer, boxing/MMA, basketball, golf, tennis, Aussie Rules Football, cricket rugby, and much more.
Initially, the registration process will be restricted to legal Puerto Rico residents. Registration should become available for visitors sometime towards the end of summer.
After completing the registration process, new customers will be entitled to claim a welcome bonus. To claim said bonus, new customers will have to make an initial sports bet (qualifying wager) of at least $50 on any available sports betting market. After placing their qualifying wagers, new customers will receive a bonus bet token based on 100% of the value of their qualifying wagers. The bonus will be granted whether qualifying bets win, lose, or tie.
As an added incentive, Caesars customers in Puerto Rico will be granted access to the Caesars Rewards program. They will be entitled to earn bonus points and tier credits based on the amounts of their wagers. Bonus points and tier credits can be redeemed for additional customer benefits, including Casino Metro comps on rooms, show tickets, restaurants, and spa services. Customers will also get access to wagering credits for the casino, and poker events.
