Earlier this year, the state of Missouri finally passed sports betting legislation. It was a fierce battle that took close to five years before the state's residents were given he good news.
With a launch date of December 1, 2025, fast approaching, the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) has been working diligently to issue the necessary licenses for online operators, retail operators, and sports betting suppliers that will provide the betting platform and support system.
According to MGC Public Relations Officer Elizabeth Hoffman, a total of 22 licenses had been issued as of October 22, 2025. They are considered temporary licenses that will very likely be converted to permanent status at a later date. Let's take a look at Missouri's new sports betting community as it stands now. There are currently 10 online operators signed on, as well as 8 retail providers and 5 ech and data suppliers.
Note: There are very few surprises on this list. These are the usual operators that one would encounter throughout the country. Some of these operators will be operating while tethered to an existing professional sports team or licensed retail casino operation.
Each of these retail providers will be open for in-person sports betting. If the retailer is affiliated with one of the aforementioned online operators, customers will be permitted to make their online account deposits through the appropriate retailer.
For several years, Missouri sports betting enthusiasts have been visiting adjacent states where sports betting is permitted by law. That includes Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan. Effective December 1, those long drives will no longer be necessary.
The next key date on the sports betting launch calendar will be November 17, 2025. That will be the day when Missourians will be able to start registering for their online sportsbook accounts and make their initial deposits.
It is highly recommended that new sports betting customers take a look at the amazing welcome bonus offers available. This is a great way for new customers to get extra value from their wagering dollars. At 12:01 am on the launch date, the betting windows will be open for business.
