After a 2020 MLB season that was shortened due to the COVID19 pandemic, fans waited throughout the fall and winter in hopes the 2021 season would return with a flourish. Indeed, the 2021 MLB season is here, and fans are in line to get that for which they have been thirsting. Assuming the pandemic fires don't get reignited, MLB is planning a traditional 162 games season for all 30 teams.
Since fan participation will be limited to about 25% of stadium capacity in each city, there will be a lot of fans sitting on the outside looking in. However, the proliferation of sports betting that has taken place over the last two years opens the doors to people participating on a whole different level.
Since the end of the abbreviated 2020 MLB season, a total of seven states have legalized and instituted sports gambling. Residents in 21 states plus the District of Columbia can now bet on sports, including MLB games. It is noteworthy that eight or nine states now allow residents to place bets online through a PC or mobile device. Access to online betting has clearly changed the sports betting landscape in America.
If you live in a state where you can bet baseball online or through retail sportsbooks, this might be your first opportunity to bet on MLB games legally. We thought it would be nice to tell you a little something about what you might find available as far as wagering opportunities.
Each state has at least three sportsbooks with some states boasting as many as a dozen. After registering with your sportsbook of choice, you can immediately start betting on baseball after making your first deposit and perhaps getting some type of betting bonus.
If you bet on baseball, you will have several betting options, a list that includes:
Each day, all games being played across the country should be on the board. If you are a recreational bettor, you might want to spend a few bucks and test out each of the aforementioned wagering options.
Throughout the MLB season, each online bookmaker in your state will be putting forth sports betting promotions. If you keep your eye out for these promotions, you might find an opportunity to create a little extra value from your wagering dollars. Also, it's a long season so watch your bankroll and hopefully, this MLB season will be a financially rewarding one.
