BetMGM Signs Sports Betting Partnership in Missouri

June 5, 2025

Retail and online sports betting are expected to go live in Missouri by the beginning of December. That's great news for Missourians who are tired of traveling to adjacent states to place bets where legalized sports betting has been ongoing for the last 2-3 years. Certainly, Illinois sports betting operators can expect a material drop in revenue by the beginning of next year.

As the state begins to ramp up for the start of sports betting during the holidays, there is a lot of action going on behind the scenes. This action centers on the creation of sports betting partnerships among Missouri's professional sports teams, retail casinos, and the nation's leading retail and online sports betting operators.

BetMGM, one of the nation's top-rated sports betting providers, has announced its first partnership deal in Missouri. The company will be aligning itself with Century Casino & Hotel Cape Girardeau to provide both online and mobile sports betting access within te state's boundaries.

In a statement issued by Century Casinos co-CEOs Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger. they stated:

“We are excited to partner with BetMGM, a leading online sports betting, and gaming entertainment company with a dynamic and innovative brand." They later added, “This partnership is another step forward in leveraging our Missouri licenses and delivering premium entertainment experiences for our customers.”

According to the rules issued by the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC), each of the state's licensed retail casinos re entitled to sign deals with two different operators. The rule applied to the state's professional sports clubs such as:

  • St. Louis Cardinals (MLB)

  • Kansas City Royals (MLB)

  • Kansas City Chiefs (NFL)

  • St. Louis Blues (NHL)

  • St. Louis City SC (MLS)

As for limitations on sports betting operators like BetMGM, they can align with a retail casino operation, or pro sports team, or apply for a stand-alone license. It's noteworthy that BetMGM is the first operator to sign a sports betting deal in Missouri.

Getting Started With BetMGM

If a Missouri resident wants to bet on sports when everything launches in December 2025, BeMGM through this partnership will be happy to start accepting customers. The site will be made available to Missouri residents who can prove they are over the age of 20 years old.

If a resident already has a BetMGM account in Illinois, they will still need to register in Missouri. However, they will then be able to use their BetMGM sports betting app to bet in each state, depending on their geographical location at the time they are placing bets. BetMGM used geo-tracking software to determine the physical locations of their customers when signed on and wagering.

Note: New Missouri customers will still be eligible to receive their welcome bonuses in Missouri even if they have an existing account in another state. Not a bad offer from a leading sports betting operator that ranks below DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook in terms of monthly sports betting gross handle.
