As legislative sessions near an end throughout the U.S., it looks like a few states are hitting the pause button on online gambling legislative efforts. That certainly appears to be the case in Texas, Alabama, and Rhode Island. Here is a look at what's going on in these three states.
Alabama is arguably one of the most conservative states in terms of allowing residents access to gambling options. In fact, Alabama is but one of six states that prohibit lotteries. That's conservative.
In spite of this "hands-off" approach to gambling, there were high hopes among residents that maybe the current legislation would at least consider some form of lottery and sports betting legislation.
As the current legislative session nears an end, it's clear that Alabama residents will have to wait at least another year to legally gamble in the state. Why? There is not a single piece of gambling legislation to be found anywhere in the House or Senate.
The wait continues.
