Poker Stars’ launch is mysteriously being delayed for reasons that many of us cannot even imagine. The main cause for the delays can be found on the software development as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has introduced new rules to be applied to all online gambling operators. The online poker operator has had to redesign some elements of the platforms’ software to comply with the DGE regulation. On the other hand, Poker Stars was already granted with the certification from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) last year during the month of September; and that is the obvious reason why the market does not get to understand the delays on Poker Stars’ launch. The DGE has in its hands Poker Stars’ license since last year and the market is getting more and more eager for the answer to this mystery. The delays do not seem to come from the NJ DGE; no licensing procedure could delay the operator to go online because Poker Stars can easily adjust itself to any market’s rules in the world. The delays cannot come from the same online poker site either, as the company would be making a triumphal entrance due to the large number of players that have been waiting for Poker Stars to open in New Jersey.
Among all the theories about these unexplainable delays, one seems to be closer to the forces that are keeping Poker Stars away from NJ online gambling market. New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak seems to have the answer to all our questions: Poker Stars launch delayed by State Governor Chris Christie. NJ State Senator has been fighting the Governor’s office for a very long time; among the Senator’s request, we can find that the Senator has been battling against the State Governor’s office to allow the development of the online gambling industry. However, NJ Governor Chris Christie is not the only one who would be behind these delays; Lesniak blames NJ government for helping land-based gambling establishment to keep their monopolies: "Christie just giving Adelson time during Congressional lame duck session to kill eGaming. Poker Stars in time out because they would boost AC and hurt Adelson's attempt in Congress to shut down eGaming. The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) urges the NJ Congressional delegation to take all action to oppose the Restoration of America’s Wire Act. Take that, Sheldon”.
