Of course, all eyes will be on the Main Event. The first flight (Flight A) starts on July 2, followed by Flight B on July 3 and Flight C on July 5. Leading participants from each flight will continue into day 2 of their specific flights.
The first time survivors from each flight will come together will be on July 8. From that point on, each day will feature fierce head-to-head action as players are eliminated and the number of tables in play decreases.
The action for the final table is expected to begin on July 16, 2025. The Main Event will be filmed for television and live-streamed each day to the delight of retail and online poker fans all over the world.
While the numbers for the 2025 Main Event won't be available until the start of the event, anticipation is high that last year's numbers will be matched if not exceeded. Last year, there were $10,112 entries and a total prize pool of over $94 million. When the first prize was handed out to Jonathan Tamayo, the poker pro found himself $1 million richer. It marked the third year in a row that the winner received a prize pool of eight figures or more. The record was set in 2023 when Daniel Weinman went home with $12.1 million stuffed in his pockets.
Both Tamayo and Weinman will be participating in this year's Main Event, looking to join other multiple Main Event winners like Doyle Brunson (2), Johnny Moss (3), Stu Ungar (#), and Johnny Chan (2). Since the 1990s, the fields have been very large, making it nearly impossible for players to win multiple Main Event Gold Bracelets.
With a little less than a month remaining until the start of the Main Event, player entries are still being accepted. Other than winning live and online qualifying events with free entries, participants can enter and pay their entry fees with cash, credit card, cashier's check, Paris or Horseshoe gaming chips, or by using their WSOP online account. Entries will be accepted until the start of Flight A on July 2.
