The gaming software firm from Canada is teaming up with the New Jersey’s gambling regulators to grant a state online gambling license to one of the most relevant poker rooms in the world, Poker Star. Amaya Gaming is trying to open the doors of the online gaming industry in New Jersey by pushing the envelope asking for the online gambling license from the Garden State after US Federal Government and Department of Justice both banned the market in 2006. Publications have been following up Poker Stars since it came back in 2011 when the market started opening its doors in the different US states like Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey.
Amaya Gaming has recently acquired Poker Stars for 4.9 billion of dollars and started as wells a marketing campaign against the coalitions and groups opposed to regulated online poker markets in the US while works with the State Government to obtain the online poker room licenses for Poker Stars; however, Poker Stars still holds a suspension for two years by regulators all over the United States, a sanction that Amaya is trying to fight back. Amaya Gaming, the gaming software firm, has been already one of the most important tools for New Jersey’s online gaming market as it is working along with the land-based casino operator Caesars Interactive Entertainment.
David Rebuck, director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, said: “We are encouraged by the recent acquisition deal and the regulatory body has now entered into talks with Amaya in an attempt to reactivate Poker Stars in the state. We have had discussions with Amaya to reactivate the application, and we plan to begin discussions with them tomorrow Thursday. We'll look at whatever they bring over. I think that, in the long run, it will be a good story for New Jersey. I am optimistic that they know what the rules are, and I fully expect them to be very aggressive because they want to be here.”
