There is a caucus of people in the United States Congress who call themselves the Congressional Gaming Caucus. As the name suggests, this group of lawmakers is eager to push forward legalized forms of gaming and gambling for players going forward. They want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy the gaming that many of us enjoy at a local casino to begin with.
This particular caucus has launched, folded, and then re-launched on several occasions throughout the years, generally in flow with the overall sentiment with the overall public and how they feel about online gambling. The fact that the caucus has returned for this caucus is a positive sign for those who are looking forward to legalized online poker going forward.
An important factor with this latest re-launch of the Gaming Caucus is the fact that they are attracting members from states that are currently not considered to be gaming states. That is to say their are representatives from states that do not have a history of casino gambling within their borders. Those members are likely looking at the writing on the wall when it comes to online gambling, and they don't want their constituents to be left behind. There is a lot of potential tax money to be collected here.
Representative Reschenthaler is the co-chair of this caucus and has a firm understanding of gambling and the gaming industry in general. This matters because many chairs in the past have not had the best grasp on this rapidly changing industry. People sometimes get laughed out of the room because they just don't know what they are talking about related to gambling, and it quickly shows when they don't.
The latest caucus appears to be a lot stronger than those of the past. Perhaps this is just a favor of the movement towards gambling acceptance growing larger, or it could have something to do with the quality of the understand of gambling topics from members in general. No matter what, the excitement around the caucus is strong.
Everyone knows that there is a tide of momentum towards getting more and more legalized gambling options to those who want to play. Given that reality, it is time that we all start to pay attention to this caucus and the work that they do. It may not be long now before they are able to push through legislation that actually gets it done.
