New York regulators receive 17 bids for casino licenses
July 1, 2014A final total of 17 bids have been submitted on Monday to New York regulators to obtain a casino license in the State of New York, after 22 application fees were submitted last April with some groups paying fees towards more than one project. Five proposals have been abandoned between April and June.
The 17 companies including Empire Resorts, Clarement Partners, Hard Rock International, Caesars Entertainment and Saratoga Casino and Raceway are competing to obtain one of the four casino licenses available in three regions, with a limit of two casinos per region. Bidders are now scheduled to give an oral presentation on or after July 21 to the state’s Gaming Facility Location Board, whose members are appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission. The Location Board will then review submissions. The four winners are meant to be announced next autumn.
