Delaware's online growth driven by casino, poker win dropped
May 30, 2014According to figures published earlier this week by the Delaware Lottery, monthly Internet gambling win went up 16.2% between April and March of this year to $240,495, while online casino win rose 35.9% to $166,417 on a month-on-month basis. At the same time, poker win dropped 12.2% to $74,078.
After Nevada and New Jersey, the two other U.S. States that have regulated online poker announced a drop of online poker in April, Delaware also registered a drop in the same sector. Delaware’s three racetrack casinos, which run online games on a lottery-controlled platform, have yet to see a return on their Internet gambling investments.
Since the 2014 fiscal year began last July, online gambling has generated win of $1.0m. A figure pretty far from the $7.75m target set by Democratic Governor Jack Markell's administration in 2012. The new account registrations is slowing down too with only 406 registrations in April, down 35.6% from March and 41% from February, according to the state’s lottery.
