Nevada and Delaware have both agreed on the terms for an online poker liquidity sharing agreement as part of the new Multi State Internet Gaming Association. Governments from both states Nevada and Delaware are pushing harder than ever to start sharing poker player pools from both states. This is the first time in the US online gambling history where two states sign an official agreement in the direction of creating the US poker network, although the federal government still has a lot to say about the online poker liquidity agreement for states to share poker players. The governors of Delaware, Jack Markell, and Nevada, Brian Sandoval, signed the agreement to achieve this crucial goal for the online gaming market. The agreement is part of the changes that the United States is going through this year 2014 like the federal proposition from Senator Heller (from another of the gambling states in the US, Nevada) that has not been discussed yet.
Delaware's governor Jack Markell said: "Generally speaking, each state will receive the percentage of the rake from each poker hand that's attributable to players from that state. Players from Delaware will be subject to the Delaware laws and regulations, and players from Nevada will be subject to Nevada's laws and regulations. Today this is an Internet poker agreement between Delaware and Nevada but we know that more games and more states mean more players which mean more revenue to participating states, and that's why we wanted this agreement to be flexible enough to expand".
Nevada's governor Sandoval shares this idea: "This agreement strikes the necessary balance between reasonable regulation and state sovereignty. It establishes a regulatory board comprising representatives of member states to oversee and implement minimum standard provisions, which will ensure that online gaming is conducted honestly in accordance with state law. We hope it will serve as a model for multi-state collaboration and that other states will see the benefits of the agreement and soon decide to join for themselves. I have had conversations with New Jersey. We'd love to have New Jersey as a partner as well".
Nevada still has three different poker operators that are working on the state's poker network (Ultimate Poker, WSOP.com and Real Gaming). Delaware, on the contrary, is only working with one main operator, world's online poker operator 888, which might simplify the shared pool process easier for both states Delaware and Nevada. 888's Chief Executive Brian Mattingley said: "This pooling compact will help 888 and its partners deliver a world-class gaming experience to poker players in Delaware and Nevada given we are the only operator live in both, vindicating our approach to launch in all regulating states. We are grateful to both states for their continued steadfast commitment to regulating our industry. We look forward to additional states entering into such interstate agreements."
