Internet Gambling Is About To Grow In New Jersey

New Jersey is one of the few states that permits online gambling within its borders. They have permitted this practice for just a few years. Still, the industry is growing rapidly. People want to play their favorite casino games via the Internet. Now, they are going to have more opportunities than ever before to do exactly that. 

Ocean Resort (previously closed) and Hard Rock Casino plan to join in on the Internet gambling fun. Both have applied for licenses with the State to offer these types of games. Most expect that these licenses will be approved in the near future. 

The approval of these two casinos would bring the total number offering Internet gaming in New Jersey all the way up to seven. That is a healthy market but it definitely still has room for growth. 

Interestingly, online poker has not taken off as much as a lot of the other forms of gambling offered. It was truly believed that poker would be the engineer driving the train when it came to online gambling in New Jersey. However, this has not proven to be the case. 

A lack of liquidity and a growing disinterest in the game are two factors pointed to by those trying to explain why this reality did not come to be. Much to the surprise and delight of the pro-gambling community, the other forms of gambling have largely picked up the slack. Who knew that people would love playing slots on their computer almost as much as they enjoy playing them in a physical casino? 

The fortunes of online poker may be about to change as well as the handful of states that have legalized it online are joining forces and combining player pools to allow for a greater variety of games. This should also help the liquidity problem in a lot of ways as well. Thus, expect an uptick in those types of games as well. Overall, it will be a net positive for the online gambling community within New Jersey when all of these things start to work out just as planned.
