One of the most fructuous gambling markets, New Jersey’s, is going through a rough patch as its online gambling industry is still fighting for the stability any market should have. In this case, one of the most important names of New Jersey’s online gambling market has decided to withdraw from the industry: Ultimate Gaming. The partnership between Ultimate Gaming and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort has been the cause for Ultimate to leave the Garden State’s market. Ultimate Gaming has accused the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort of malpractice as well as several contract breaches. New Jersey regulated online gambling industry is still struggling. The different operators as well as the land-based casinos are not allowing the market to take off, leading the industry into an uncertain future. So far, New Jersey’s estimates for this year are not going to reach the expectations from politics and the industry itself. So far this year, NJ has been able to bring in $87 million, 10 times less the estimates for this year. Ultimate Gaming was one of the first operators to get licensed in the state of New Jersey. But its partnership with Trump Taj Mahal Casino has been, without doubt, the main reason why the online gambling operator is not receiving the estimated feedback from the market. Ultimate held the sixth position on the ranking for online gambling operations, much more behind from online market leaders, Borgata and Party Poker.
Trump Entertainment Resorts, Taj Mahal's parent company, has nothing to say about Ultimate's withdrawal but the company with both of its icons, Trump Plaza (closed already) and Taj Mahal (probably closing on November of this year 2014), are partially responsible for New Jersey’s online gambling market’s letdown. So far, Ultimate has informed players about accounts being transferred to either ucasino.com or ultimatepoker.com. Tom Breitling, chairman of Ultimate Gaming, stated: "We are grateful to the state of New Jersey and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for allowing us to be one of the first companies to bring online gaming to the citizens of New Jersey and appreciate their leadership as one of the first states to allow online gaming. We are working closely with the Division of Gaming Enforcement to ensure a smooth transition for our online gaming customers as we wind down our New Jersey operations".
