Nevada online gambling industry grows slowly

April 14, 2014

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has come out with the numbers for the first online poker reports, and, the online poker market in Nevada has not presented the expected profits although the figures that the Silver State is handling now are enough for such a barred industry. Let us remind ourselves that Nevada has been always one of the gambling states in the US; therefore, it should be one of the first ones to come out backing up the new technologies that are bringing us the poker rooms straight to our living rooms. In spite of this, Nevada is home for one of the most despicable individuals in the country, Sheldon Adelson; the casino´s mogul has been in too many enterprises lately; actually, he has been the main reason why coalitions against online gaming have been created. He was also the responsible for the anti Obama campaign when the government condemned Israel's attacks in the Gaza strip in Palestine. Sheldon Adelson has been one of the main obstacles in the development of the online gaming industry. His very popular greedy personality has been revealed in many instances to the point that Nevada's government had finally to put an end to it.

The first Nevada online poker report has shown a not very important impact in the industry. However, the state government has granted six more poker licenses to six companies. These licenses have a six months expiration period where companies have to launch their products. Companies like MGM are not going to launch any of its products related to poker until the state of Nevada stops coalitions to ban the online gaming market again, like the group that Sheldon Adelson has put together, instead of requesting high charges to enter the market. The entrance fee for a company to enter the market is $500,000, plus an annual fee of $250,000 for an online poker license.

An online poker network between Nevada and Delaware could allow the two states to create just one single poker player pool. However, that already-signed agreement cannot work for the companies in Nevada as gaming operators are only allowed to offer no casino games other than poker rooms, something that New Jersey and Delaware have had already in their online casinos where players can also enjoy real money casino games.
