KY State Senator Mike Wilson does not seem to be very happy with the idea of legalizing the online gambling market although, this time, the State Senator seems to have different reasons to propose an online gambling ban. KY State Senator’s fight against the online gambling market does not show any correlation with the others anti-online gambling campaigns from Sheldon Adelson and the Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling. The US state has recently received a bill to ban any form of online gambling in Kentucky; Wilson’s BR 229, was presented to the court on November 2014, in order to amend KRS 528.010, resolution that does not consider the new electronic mobile devices as gambling devices.
Kentucky is without doubt one of the main horse race tracks in the world. The state has been already working on expanding any of the online gambling markets: horse races and public lottery. The state has already entered into a partnership with GTECH to start the online lottery sales on 2015. While other US states like Georgia, Minnesota, and Illinois, with online lottery bills already, as well as states like Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey, with legalized online poker rooms and casinos, others like South Dakota, Montana, Washington State, and Utah have already approved online gambling rules. KY State Senator Mike Wilson has stated: “What they’ve done is they’ve taken away the charitable gaming from people like our veterans who are the VFW and the American Legion, which I’m a member there also. As well as, the Knights of Columbus, it’s really hurt them big time. It is constructed to shut down the Internet sweepstakes café’s in store fronts not individuals playing online poker.”
