The golden state has new revenue, the online poker market. The last studies have shown that California's online poker marker has a value of 384 millions of dollars. Academicon, research institution and consultancy agency, and PokerScout, one of the most important research firms in this market, have both shown, once again, that the golden state is losing money; better said, wasting time and money.
The golden state of California is one of the most advanced, technologically speaking; the greater part of the technology that we use these days comes from the bay area of San Francisco, although San Jose's bay area contains the almighty Silicon Valley, center of the new technologies. The new study from these two experts states that, if California ever thought about legalizing online poker, the golden state could create in between 217 and 63 millions of dollars as revenue in just the first year, and it could perfectly go up to 384 millions in the tenth year of operations. The data came from the studies on 2009 and 2010, where online poker was still banned in some states, and shows that 178,300 users from California have produced around $867 per year in revenue. The report's conclusion is that if the state of California were to restrict operations and limit within California limits, the revenue will be reduced considerably. Professor Kahlil Philander, one of the authors of the study, has made some comments: "Under regulation, online poker is expected to grow well beyond its previous peak". On the other hand, Dr. Ingo Fiedler, the other author of the study, has stated, "the size of the market depends strongly on the decision to either limit the player pool to in-state residents or participate in a federal or international network of players.
