The action at PokerStars for residents of New Jersey and Pennsylvania is starting to heat up. The leading online poker platform has announced a series of live events that offers up an alternative for players that might not be eligible to play in online poker events hosted by other states.
The PokerStars Blowout Series is envisioned to be an alterative to the World Series of Poker events which were forced to take place online in 2020 for the first time in WSOP history. Only players that were physically located in Nevada were able to participate in those events.
The Blowout Series will offer a similar slate of poker contests for players that are located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Online poker is legal in both states. PokerStars has even stated that the events will be linked between the two states, allowing players from New Jersey and Pennsylvania to join games against each other.
The events will begin on December 13th with Turbo Week in Pennsylvania. There will be 56 tournaments available with more than $500,000 in prize money up for grabs. Players can buy in to some of the tournaments for as little as $5.
A $200 Main Event is scheduled for the end of the series. This tournament has a guaranteed first place prize of $60,000.
PokerStars will use No Limit Hold 'Em for most of the events. However, there will also be Omaha, PLO, and other games offered during the series.
