Golden Nugget and Betfair, partners in New Jersey

The Golden Nugget is one of the main land-based casino operators in the US market with resorts in the two most relevant gambling market US states: New Jersey and Nevada. New Jersey’s market is going through several difficulties, as the country gets ready for the next White House team. This last week, New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) published online gambling revenue results for the month of October, the second consecutive month of marketed decline, a fact accounted for by UCasino withdrawal from the market. In any way, the online gambling industry in NJ must go on and Golden Nugget, one of the main casino resorts, has been able to find other ways to keep the company in New Jersey’s market. Online operators in New Jersey must run under an agreement with any other land-based gambling operators, the casino resorts. That is exactly the strategy to follow for any online operator that is trying to enter New Jersey’s online iGaming market.

BetFair has been one of the main online iGaming operators for decades. The company has been in every single gambling and betting market in the world. In the United States, BetFair had made partners with Trump Plaza; however, the casino resort is closing doors this coming December of 2014 and, therefore the main online betting operator in the country has had to find itself another partner. New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) published online gambling is now working on the business partnership between BetFair and Golden Nugget. The online betting operator will be using Golden Nugget’s online gaming license to offer the same services at BetfairCasino.com. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has been one of the main backers for this agreement as has been allowing Betfair to use the gambling license from Trump Plaza, despite its closure. Don Ryan, president of gaming for Betfair US, said:  “We are very excited to move our operations to Golden Nugget Atlantic City, one of the premier resort destinations in New Jersey. With this relationship, Betfair and Golden Nugget are well positioned to accelerate growth in 2015 and beyond”. Thomas Winter, VP of online gaming at Golden Nugget, said: “We welcome Betfair to the Golden Nugget. The combination of our complementary brands will allow Golden Nugget Atlantic City to cater to an even larger demographic of NJ online players”.
