DraftKings Brings Online Casino Gambling to West Virginia

DraftKings is one of the world's largest fantasy sports operators. After the U.S. Supreme Court lifted the nation's ban on legalized sports gambling, DraftKigs made a strong move into the sports betting arena. Currently, DraftKings stands as the largest operator of online and land based sportsbooks in America.

Now, the company is set to conquer a new rontier. In a very small group of states, online casino gambling has already been legalized. Until recently, that small group of states included Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This week, DraftKings has announced the launch of its online casino platform in the state of West Virginia. For what it's worth, several states, Michigan and Indiana included, will be looking to open online casino gambling for its residents next year.

DraftKings has announced the launch of its online casino software platform in WV in association with Hollywood Casino at Charlestown Races. The casino will be available via PC or through the use of mobile apps that are compatible with for both iOS and Android devices. This very same platform is already available for online casino gamblers in PA and NJ. All DraftKings online casino mobile apps are available for free through Google Play and the Apple Store.

With this exciting news for WV residents, DraftKings also released information related to what gamblers can expect to see. The software platform will include:

• A library of over 300 video slots with betting limits starting as low as $.01
  
• 60 table games, including, craps, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, etc.

• A customer service and banking module
  

Online casino gambling was approved in West Virginia in 2019 with the passing of the WV Lottery Interactive Wagering Act. As part of the new law, a total of five land based casino operators have been granted licensing to operate online casinos. That list includes:

• Wheeling Island Hotel
  
• Mardi Gras Casino & Resort
  
• The Casino Club at The Greenbrier
  
• Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort
  

As part of the competition, DraftKings is expected to go head to head with its old fantasy sports nemesis FanDuel. Fanduel is currently pursuing licencing to offer its own online casino platform in conjunction with one of the aforementioned land based casino operators.
