Twinspires Offers $100,000 Road to KY Derby Prep Race Competition

It looks like the road to the 2022 Kentucky Derby Officially starts in earnest this week with the running of the Gun Runner Stakes on December 26, 2021, at the Fairgrounds. In all, there will be 33 races that comprise the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Leading up to this year's Derby, Twinspires is offering its "$100,000 Road to KY Derby Prep Race Competition" promo. This offer will be running from December 26, 2021, until April 16, 2022. To participate in this leaderboard competition, horseplayers will need to first opt-in one time. After opting in, participants can earn points towards the leaderboard by placing qualifying wagers on any or all of the 33 "Road to the Derby" races.

To earn points, horseplayers will need to place a minimum $25 win bet on the designated races. After doing so, they will earn a designated number of points towards the leaderboard based on where their horse finishes. Points will be awarded for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and 4th place in each race. The number of points awarded for each position will vary based on the importance of the prep race. Of course, the Arkansas Derby will be worth more points than the Gun Runner Stakes.

The total points for each participant will be tabulated after each prep race. The winners will be announced on April 19, 2022. The total prize fund will be work $100,000 to be distributed to the top 100 horseplayers on the leaderboards. The top five prizes will be as follows:

• First Place = $15,000 and a VIP trip to the Kentucky Derby for two
  
• Second Place = $10,000 and a VIP trip to the Kentucky Derby for two
  
• Third Place = $8,000 in cash
  
• Fourth Place = $6,000 in cash
  
• Fifth Place = $4,500 in cash
  

Places 81st-100th will receive $100 in cash. According to tax laws, winners will be responsible for claiming winnings on their tax returns. If the VIP trip winners cannot attend the Derby, they will get the designated prize money and an additional $4,000 to substitute for the trip.

This offer is only available to register Twinspires customers who live in a state that allows online betting on horse races. Anyone who participates must meet the age requirement in their state, which is 21 years old in most states.
