Sports betting in Connecticut has now gone live. Under the current legislation, there will be three entities in control of sports betting throughout the state. The three aforementioned entities will be the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Indian Tribes and the Connecticut Lottery.

The Mashantucket Pequot has chosen DraftKings as its exclusive sports betting operator. They will be offering retail sports betting in the Tribe's Foxwoods Casino and online sports betting in an area restricted to customers of Foxwoods.

The Mohegan Tibe has chose Fanduel. Likewise, Fanduel will be responsible for operating a retail sportsbook inside the Mohegan Sun Casino with online operations available in an area restricted to customers of Mohegan Sun.

The CT lottery will be permitted licensing to run 15 retail sportsbooks throughout the state. To date, about 10 locations have been identified. Rush Street Interactive has been chosen to represent the CT lottery as its sports betting operator through the SugarHouse brand. Yes, SugarHouse will be running all 15 of the Lottery's retail sportsbooks. They will also be providing access to online sports betting in areas not covered by the aforementioned Indian Tribes.

Aside from licensing fees, each of the three primary entities will have an annual tax obligation. They will each need to pay taxes on their sports betting revenue at the rate of 18% for the first five years. Subsequently, the tax rate is scheduled to go up to 20%.
