Pennsylvania could be soon the next of the US states to introduce a new legislation that would regulate the online gambling industry. That has been the conclusion from Pennsylvania State Senator, Edwin Erickson, earlier this week after revealing the new bill to regulate online poker rooms in the state. Pennsylvania's online gambling bill, State Bill 1386, will be soon introduced by State Senator and will only regulate the online poker industry, leaving behind other online gambling markets such as online casinos and bingo rooms. As it has happened in all of the other US states that have regulated online gambling, and will continue for the future US states' legislations, Pennsylvania's online poker bill will include the bad actor article; this is the measure that the Federal Government has introduced before leaving the legislation authority to the states.
The State Senator is looking at the gross revenues from the already known as the gaming states where online legislation has already become a reality. The gross revenue for Pennsylvania could be easily boosted up if the state passes the legislation. Once the state includes the online poker market, Pennsylvania could position itself in between Nevada and New Jersey. These two states have already proven that states and federal government can work on setting up a firm frame for the online gaming industry: "In the next few weeks I intend to introduce Senate Bill 1386, legislation that would authorize interactive gaming in the form of online poker. Many Pennsylvania residents participate in illegal and unregulated poker sites. Establishing a strong regulatory framework under the Gaming Control Board will assist in shutting down these illegal sites and enhance consumer protection for our gaming residents. A recent study from the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee found that internet gaming is a large new source of revenue that the Commonwealth could explore. This means more revenue to assist in the reduction of real estate taxes."
