Betly Casino and Sportsbook Launches in West Virginia

West Virginia online gamblers are fortunate enough already have access to some of the best online gambling operators in the U.S. That would include the likes of top operators like BetMGM, BetRivers, and DraftKings. Now, Betly Casino and Sportsbook can be added to that list as the operator will be launching in West Virginia sometime during the month of August.

After several months of negotiations, the Delaware North Group has announced they will be converting their original online gambling platform from Gamewise and International Gaming Technology (IGT) to the Betly platform. The Delaware North Group owns and operates two (2) retail casinos in the Mountain State, the casinos being the Mardi Gras Casino Resort and the Wheeling Island Hotel, Casino, and Racetrack.

In a press release, David Morris, Delaware North RegionalDirector of Marketing, stated:

“We are thrilled to make the online and mobile Betly Casino and Sportsbook available to our many loyal patrons in West Virginia. Now they can experience the excitement of casino gaming from the convenience of their homes and anywhere in the state.”

It's noteworthy that the Delaware North Group had a prior affiliation with Betly's sportsbook. They shut down the original sportsbook in June 2023, wanting to offer something to customers that would be state-of-the-art. Betly was first launched in 2020. During the site's downtime, Betly's management along with an assist from Gamewise was able to create an online casino and sportsbook platform that is suitable for integration into Delaware North's plans for the future.

It's also noteworthy that Delaware North also maintains a relationship with WynnBet for the operator's West Virginia online casino and sportsbook app. This relationship is expected to remain in place as is.

How Betly's New Online Gambling Platform Came to Be

After the prior Betly sports betting app stopped taking wagers, customers were given until the end of July to withdraw any remaining funds. They were also told that a new casino/sportsbook platform would be available in the near future. That future has arrived.

As patrons register with the new site, they will be getting access to a fully integrated online gambling platform that now includes online casino games from top software developers like IGT and a host of others. The switch is intended to make the Betly brand more competitive with the state's other "full-service" online gambling operators.

In prior months, Delaware North's management had been disappointed in its online sports betting revenue. For example, Mardi Gras only recorded about $80k in sports betting revenue in June prior to the Betly shutdown. With the release of the new online gambling platform, management is hoping to see its online gambling revenue increase to as much as $300K a month.

With the launch of the new Betly platform, customers will be getting access to hundreds of online casino games. They will also be getting access to more than 30 sports betting markets each day. That will include the NFL, which is scheduled to begin its 2023 regular season in about 30 days.
