Draft Kings continues its expansion into major US sports leagues

DraftKings, the most relevant fantasy sports operator in the United States, is creating one of the biggest sports betting network in the country, even when betting is still an illegal practice in many of the US states. The Boston based company has operated in the United States since the US federal bill from 2006, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), after the US Federal Administration established that fantasy sports are more of a skills game. That allowed DraftKings to operate in 45 out of 50 US states where is legally offering fantasy sports betting services.

Nevertheless, the fantasy sports operators has not only been able to deep-rooted itself into the US market if it was not for the major sport leagues. DraftKings has been entered into partnerships with several teams from the major sport leagues in the United States. On the NBA league, the operator has deals with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics. However, the NBA has not been the only one to be selected by DraftKings. Both, several teams from the NHL and the NFL have been also targeted by DraftKings. The operator became the sponsor of some of these teams from major sports leagues, appearing in most of the marketing campaigns, as well as becoming the main face for these teams in the sports betting market.

The three new deals that DraftKings has closed with the North American NBA basketball include the teams of Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, and Sacramento Kings. The three of them are entering into partnership with one of the most successful operators in the betting industry. The operator will become the Los Angeles Clippers’ official daily fantasy sports operator as well as one of the sponsors during the games. The Clippers´ fans will also enjoy the Fan Contest where they can win a VIP trip to a Clippers game. The Golden State Warriors will make DraftKings become the official sponsor of the team and its Warrior Slate Night initiative, as well as the marketing campaigns of which it will be part. DraftKings will also become the sponsor of the Sacramento Kings.
