DraftKings getting into eSports

Fantasy sports operators are making a difference in the US online gambling market these days. They have been pushing the envelope, trying to bring some common sense into the broken gambling legal system in the country by developing new partnerships and online services. One of the main operators, Draft Kings, has recently announced its intent to get into the online gambling market. As per the current legislation, Daily Fantasy Sports operators are not allowed to offer cash prizes to their customers. However, the new service that Draft King will be offering soon in the United States is going to change the online market that we now know.

DraftKings, the Daily Fantasy Sports operator, has been preparing itself for this new move. In the last months, we have been witnesses of the many partnerships that the operator has been singing with many of the major sports leagues in the United States. This has been probably one of the main foundations before the operator could even thing about offering the new online services starting on October of this year 2015. eSports will become the new online service from DraftKings, for the League of Legends World Championship. DraftKings is going to allow users to draft any pro team and compete for cash prizes.

DraftKings Chief Revenue Officer Matt Kalish has said: "We certainly have global ambitions here and want to be operating in as many countries as possible and as quickly as possible. The long game here is really tied in more with our international strategy. eSports is huge globally, not just in the US. It is actually relatively small in the US, and as we are looking for our product to be a little stronger when we go into new geographies, eSports is really at the top of the list of what people will be looking for."
