Derby Jackpot has becomes the first online gambling site in the United States to accept the method of payment Bitcoin. Derby Jackpot, headquartered in New York City, has become one of the most popular sites in the country, offering real money online games based on live horse racing. The site is, from now, part of the US online gambling history as has become the first regulated online gambling site in the United States to accept Bit Coin. The company has struck a deal with Go Coin, the payment processor; the partnership will allow Derby Jackpot to offer Bitcoin for gamblers to bet on horse races. The deal makes Derby Jackpot the first regulated gambling site to accept digital currency for horse races bets.
But it seems that the idea did not come from any of the two companies but from the players themselves. Bit Coin gambling sites have been in business for a while already but they haven’t made any impact in the market. In spite of this, the high demand from players to have other options like Bitcoin, has been the main backer for Derby Jackpot to take the chance to integrate Bitcoin.
Steve Beauregard, founder and CEO of Go Coin, commented: “Having spent the last 18 months circling the globe educating gaming and financial regulators in Europe and Southeast Asia, I’m thrilled to see the U.S. be the first to market with a legal-regulated real-money gaming site with Derby Jackpot. And being from Maryland, I’m especially proud to see the launch on the eve of the Preakness Stakes. As a Bitcoin company, compliance needs to be top of mind. Our compliance team was super impressed with the thoughtfulness and thoroughness of the Derby Jackpot compliance program, that they were a natural fit for Go Coin”.
