Washington Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon is joining the long list of NFL players that are against daily fantasy sports company FanDuel. The lawsuit is based on the main operations for this and other daily fantasy sports operators that are using player names without their permission. Of course, NFL players are complaining about these operators not compensating them. But the hypocrisy of this lawsuit is that this same player, Pierre Garcon, promoted one of the main daily fantasy sports on his Twitter account: "Fanduel pays out 1 million dollars in prizes per DAY! Come play in my 1-day league".
The lawsuit has made clear that this is all about the players not receiving any compensation: "This case is about FanDuel trying to profit on plaintiff Garcon’s success, and that of other NFL athletes, without compensating them… on the backs of NFL players, whose popularity and performance make the Defendant’s commercial daily fantasy football product possible. FanDuel has released a statement about this lawsuit: "There is established law that fantasy operators may use player names and statistics for fantasy contests. FanDuel looks forward to continuing to operate our contests which sports fans everywhere have come to love."
