FanDuel World Fantasy Baseball Championships to Crown Millionaire Winner
June 22, 2015
Fantasy baseball players have a chance to take their game to the next level thanks to one-day fantasy sports leaders FanDuel. They are hosting the 2015 World Fantasy Baseball Championship on August 21 and 22 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, with the champion taking home a grand prize of $1 million.
Participants will qualify for the event by winning leagues on FanDuel.com. By winning, they are guaranteed a minimum of $10,000 along with a package of airfare and transportation and a three-night stay at the Cosmopolitan, one of the elite luxury hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. Participants will compete in a one-day league where they get to make their teams from the full roster of players available on that day. The person who puts together the team with the best fantasy performance for that day will claim the first prize.
FanDuel has enlisted the help of one of the true icons of modern sports to help with the World Fantasy Baseball Championships. Former baseball and football All-Star Bo Jackson will serve as both the host of the WFBC and participate in a unique Home Run Derby with finalists. The Big League Dreams sports park will be turned into FanDuel Field on August 21 for the FanDuel Home Run Derby. Participants will receive an All-Star presentation on the Jumbotron before swinging for the fences along with Jackson. Players who hit home runs or get the ball in certain areas can win a variety of prizes.
FanDuel is at the forefront of the fast-growing world of one-day fantasy sports, which offers several advantages for players. Games reset every day, so players can get into the action in the middle of the season and don’t have to worry about being stuck for months managing underperforming teams. Spots in one-day leagues are often available for just a few dollars and can offer major payoffs for winners. In January 2015, Forbes Magazine reported that FanDuel had 1.1 million registered players.
