A number of legislative leaders from New Jersey are standing against the campaign led by Sheldon Adelson against online gaming and are urging the US Congress to reject calls to enforce a national ban.
According to them, the Adelson-backed blanket ban on online gaming would be really damaging for the states that have already regulated online gaming, and state loteries, which offer their products online. “New Jersey has taken aggressive and innovative steps to bring its casino industry into the 21 century, and is building on the success of those efforts,” said New Jersey Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto. “Much like gaming at casinos throughout the country this is clearly an issue best left for the states to decide and regulate. New Jersey’s program should be left to succeed on its own.”
