The U.S. assets of the Australi-based PointsBet were purchased in the summer of 2023 by Fanatics Holdings for a purchase price of $225 million. The assets were immediately placed under the umbrella of the Fanatics Betting and Gaming subsidiary, which is run by CEO Matt King. Fanatics Sportsbook New York is now live in "The Empire State ".
Good news for New York sports bettors. PointsBet has finally received the green light to start taking online/mobile bets from NY sports bettors. While PointsBet might not have the same name recognition as Caesars or DraftKings, they are generally considered one of the bettor operators in the U.S.
After hitting the home landing page, this reviewer found that the PointsBet site is one of the bettor looking and organized websites for NY sports bettors. The site is easy to navigate and contains all of the relevant information, including bonus advertisements at the top, admin information at the bottom, current betting information throughout the rest of the page.
While the site is available for PC users with a standard web browser, PointsBet also offers a free mobile app that is compatible with common operating systems like Android and iOS.
To compete in the NY sports betting market, a mobile operator will need to offer access to all of the best-betting markets in the world. PointsBEt gets high marks for doing just that. From the U.S., they provide access to PGA Golf, the NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, NBAA BB Men's, NCAA BB Women's, NASCAR, and the MLS.
At the international level, PointsBet customers get access to over 20 different markets on any given day. That includes the Premier Soccer League, darts, professional boxing and MMA, cycling, rugby, golf, tennis, Aussie Rules Football, Cricket, motorsports, basketball, and much more.
To be clear, NY sports bettors know a thing or two about wagering on sports. As experienced bettors, they demand access to a full range of betting options. Here is a list of PointsBet betting options: straight bets (point spread), straight bets (money line), live in-game wagering, parlays, teasers, prop bets, round robin bets, and futures odds betting.
By all indications, PointsBet is going to be competitive with its betting limits.
From the bonus menu, sports bettors will see that they do have access to a variety of bonus promotions. PointsBet is actually famous for offering boost promotions whenever possible. They also like to introduce bet credits and insurance offers.
The current PointsBet welcome offer is a bit unique and lucrative. New customers actually get five second chance
bets up to $250 at sign up. The player must create an account with Pointsbet, make a deposit, and bet on a qualifying event. During your 1st 5 days betting at PointsBet, if your first fixed odds cash bet of the day doesn't win, get a $50 second chance at bet credits.
There is nothing unusual about the PointsBet banking menu. It contains all of the standard U.S. options, including VISA, PayPal, MasterCard, and bank transfers. Limits are available through a customer service department that is available 24/7/365 via, a live chat option, email, or phone for Illinois residents.
Verdict: If a NY sports bettor would like to be a big fish in a smaller pond while getting access to all the relevant betting markets and options, PointsBet NY would be a good place to land.
